After a strong campaign, the Vancouver Surge now find themselves starting from scratch. The franchise has parted ways with all four starting players and head coach Raymond "Rambo" Lussier, creating a major offseason challenge.
In their search for a new leader, Surge management has spoken with several notable coaching candidates, including world champion coach Ehsan "DREAL" Javed and former Florida Mutineers coach Ricky "Atura" Lugo. There’s also interest from a familiar face, Sam Fenix, the Surge’s former coach, who spent the past year in Overwatch, is open to returning to Call of Duty.
Building a new roster won’t be easy, given budget constraints. Still, sources say Vancouver has a strong interest in signing the OMiT roster, the Challenger sensation that stunned FaZe Clan at EWC and won the final two Challenger events of the year. All four OMIT players have expressed a desire to stick together, making the Surge an attractive landing spot if buyouts can be arranged.
The rumored lineup would see Jay "Craze" and Mamba make their CDL debuts alongside established veterans Makenzie "Mack" Kelley and Reece "Vivid" Drost, an intriguing blend of fresh talent and proven experience that could surprise the league next season.
