At the beginning of the season, only one non-Saudi Arabian rookie was signed to a Call of Duty League team, and he was merely a substitute. However, as the season has progressed, we have seen some outstanding young talent emerge, alongside a few who haven't performed as well. Next up, Mason "Mercules" Ramsay
Mercules made his name known during CDL Major 3 in April 2025 when he was called up as a substitute for Toronto Ultra, stepping in for Ben “Beans” McMellon due to visa issues. Despite being a rookie and thrown into a high-stakes situation, he delivered a breakout performance — helping Ultra to a third-place finish while posting a 1.08 K/D and notching 474 kills, the third-highest in the entire tournament.
Following his standout showing, Mercules reportedly received a starting offer from Cloud9 New York, but instead chose to sign with OpTic Texas for the remainder of the season. His arrival prompted veteran Cesar “Skyz” Bueno to move to the bench — a major roster shift for the storied franchise.

Since joining the GreenWall, Mercules has quickly turned heads — including that of OpTic’s founder and CEO, Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez. Fans and analysts alike are beginning to wonder: could Mercules be the next long-term star to carry the torch for OpTic?
If he continues his current form — and especially if he can help OpTic secure their first tournament win of the season — it wouldn’t be surprising to see him emerge as a serious contender for Rookie of the Year.
Statistically, he's already making waves. Mercules currently holds the highest Control K/D in the CDL at 1.33. Even more impressive, OpTic has only lost two Control rounds in their first four matches — a game mode they’ve struggled with all season until now.
Merc has a 1.03 K/D in Hardpoint and a 1.11 K/D in SND, showcasing that this young rookie is a menace in every mode he plays, bringing in kills that both OpTic's Flex players have failed to achieve this season
