As the Call of Duty League prepares to kick off the Black Ops 7 season, anticipation is at an all-time high after all of the Kickoff tournaments. A new title, new rosters, and a fresh competitive meta mean every team enters the year with both opportunity and uncertainty, and fans are eager to see which squads will set the tone early.

Some teams look like immediate championship contenders on paper, loaded with star power and expectations, while others are betting on rookies, rebuilds, or bold roster moves to spark a breakout year. With the preseason behind us and opening weekend approaching, the landscape is starting to take shape. Here’s how all 12 teams stack up in our Preseason Power Rankings heading into the BO7 season.

How the teams are ranked: The writers, stats team, and Dope Check talent at Breaking Point were polled to rate each of the 12 teams. Since there have only been kickoff tournaments so far, the team was assigned to rank the teams going into the season based on expectations & early form. Each ranks the teams 1st through 12th. After collecting the rankings from the BP team, each team would be given points for each vote, as seen below:

1st – 12 points
2nd – 11 points
3rd – 10 points
4th – 9 points
5th – 8 points
6th – 7 points
7th – 6 points
8th – 5 points
9th – 4 points
10th – 3 points
11th – 2 point
12th – 1 points

The Breaking Point Power Ranking

1st: OpTic Texas

Voting: 12.0 Avg Points, S Tier
Monster Kickoff Placement: 1st
Roster: Dashy - Mercules - Huke - Shotzzy

OpTic Texas is looking to make it three straight World Championships this season & has already started off hot. Merculus looks like the best player in the League, dropping a CDL-high 1.22 Overall K/D across the Flank Invitational, Monster Kickoff Invitational, and Kaysan Showdown VIII. The pacing plays straight into their hands, as the whole team looks incredible in early play.

2nd: Paris Gentle Mates

Voting: 11.0 Avg Points, A+ Tier
Monster Kickoff Placement: 2nd
Roster: Envoy - Ghosty - Neptune - Sib

The Gentle Mates have made a splash since joining the League officially, winning the Kaysan Showdown VIII and coming in 2nd at the Monster Kickoff Invitational. Ghosty looks reinvigorated with the Paris lineup, leading the Kaysan tournament with a 1.24 overall K/D, including a 1.53 K/D in Overload. Before the game release, they were a popular dark horse team, but now they are a full-blown Title Contender.

3rd: Los Angeles Thieves

Voting: 10.0 Avg Points, A- Tier
Monster Kickoff Placement: Top 8
Roster: aBeZy - HyDra - Kenny - Scrap

Thieves had a disappointing end to last season and decided to make changes to spark the roster in Black Ops 7. That included sending off Dylan "Envoy" Hannon and Daniel "Ghosty" Rothe, who both ended up on the Gentle Mates. The team has stumbled early on, finishing Top 8 at the Monster Kickoff Invitational & 3rd at the Kaysan Showdown VIII. They have gone 4-7 in Hardpoint in those two tournaments and 2-5 in Overload. It's too early to say these struggles will continue, but worth monitoring heading into Week 1 of the CDL.

4th: FaZe Vegas

Voting: 8.8 Avg Points, B Tier
Monster Kickoff Placement: Top 6
Roster: O4 - Abuzah - Drazah - Simp

Questions are quickly arising about this FaZe Vegas roster after underwhelming preseason results in the kickoff tournaments. While the team has talent, the questions about team building and how they stack up against the now Top 3 teams have started to get louder. Four straight losses with a 3-12 map count as a team in the preseason Invitationals include losses to G2, the Thieves, and OpTic twice now. The weight will be on Chris "Simp" Lehr to lead the team in tough week 1 matches against LA Thieves & Paris Gentle Mates.

5th: Toronto KOI

Voting: 7.8 Avg Points, B Tier
Monster Kickoff Placement: Top 6
Roster: CleanX - Insight - JoeDeceives - ReeaL

After an interesting offseason that saw everything from the roster blowing up to we're so back, the Toronto franchise ended up with a new brand & a great team heading into Black Ops 7. CleanX will continue his move ot the AR position, which he played very well in the Monster Invitational. Finishing the tournament with a 1.11 K/D, he looks like a slayer that KOI will need against the top teams. Adding in José "ReeaL" Castilla to duo with rising star Joseph "JoeDeceives" Romero helped create an SMG duo that can compete against anyone.

6th: G2 Minnesota

Voting: 7.3 Avg Points, B Tier
Monster Kickoff Placement: 3rd
Roster: Estreal - Kremp - Mamba - Skyz

Before the season, Minnesota would not be this high on the rankings, but after multiple great performances in the preseason events, that quickly changed. The rebuild around Justice "Estreal" McMillan looks to have paid off, and they should get better going into Stage I. Going 7-3 in Hardpoint & 5-2 in Overload in the Monster Invitational is extremely promising & should allow them to shock some teams in the opening qualifier weeks.

7th: Miami Heretics

Voting: 6.0 Avg Points, C Tier
Monster Kickoff Placement: Top 12
Roster: MettalZ - RenKoR - SupeR - Traixx

The Miami Heretics are the hardest team to place currently in the Call of Duty League. They have a incoming rookie that had a delayed start to the year. The lone missing team from the preseason events were the Heretics. While they still have two of the best rookies from last season in David "RenKoR" Isern and Diego "SupeR" Escudero, I think many will have to see them in action again before they start to climb back up the rankings.

8th: Boston Breach

Voting: 5.0 Avg Points, C Tier
Monster Kickoff Placement: Top 16
Roster: Cammy - Nastie - Purj - Snoopy

The Breach received a major boost when they were able to sign Byron "Nastie" Plumridge to the squad in the offseason. Nastie has been a Grand Finals mainstay, making five finals in Black Ops 6 and the finals of EWC in Modern Warfare III. The trio returning from last season were able to overperform and achieve multiple Top 6 placements. With it know that they are a feisty team & able to punch above their weight, this will be a team to look out for as they try to qualify for Champs yet again.

9th: Cloud9 New York

Voting: 4.0 Avg Points, C- Tier
Monster Kickoff Placement: 4th
Roster: Afro - Beans - Mack - Vivid

The New York franchise has gone through another full rebuild this offseason, having to replace all four starting spots and the coaching staff. They have done well to field a competitive team of veterans, including the OMiT duo of Makenzie "Mack" Kelley and Reece "Vivid" Drost to go with the European duo Marcus "Afro" Reid & Ben "Beans" McMellon. During the preseason Monster Invitational, they took down both Toronto (3-2) and Boston (3-1), while looking very competitive against Paris (1-3) & Minnesota (1-3). While they are currently ranked just just 9th on the Power Rankings, they are easily a team that could make the leap higher on this list.

10th: Riyadh Falcons

Voting: 2.5 Avg Points, D Tier
Monster Kickoff Placement: Top 16
Roster: Cellium - Exnid - KiSMET - Pred

Seeing Riyadh in the bottom four of the preseason Power Ranking seems like an insane statement, but the squad hasn't played well early on. Yes the matches do not count in anything in the long run, but losing to FaZe & being reverse swept by Team WaR has left a bad taste in voters before the start of the year. Questions have been swirling about how the team will play together and if the individual pieces are going to fit together. Nevertheless, this should be the lowest ranking of the year for the Falcons.

11th: Carolina Royal Ravens

Voting: 2.3 Avg Points, D Tier
Monster Kickoff Placement: Top 8
Roster: Craze - Lurqxx - Nero - SlasheR

This ranking can be pinned to the unknown factor of the rookies & if the AR duo will be able to perform well together against the top teams. Both Logan "Lurqxx" and Jay "Craze" Mallhi are full of potential, but until they have been able to show that potential consistently in CDL matches, it'll be hard to move them too far up the list. While they are lower currently, they are not a team to sleep on.

12th: Vancouver Surge

Voting: 1.5 Avg Points, D- Tier
Monster Kickoff Placement: Top 12
Roster: Abe - Gwinn - Lqgend - Lunarz

Much like the last couple teams ahead of Surge on the rankings, much of this placement can be pinned on the unknowns of the roster & needing to see them in matches. We have deliberately not place any teams in the F tier because the teams should look much different in the opening matches with additional practice. This roster, like many others, has a lot of potential but it'll be on the team to continue the development of these players & get the best out of them.
