The LA Thieves have officially announced the release of Kenneth "Kenny" Williams from their starting roster, marking the end of one of the most defining tenures in the franchise’s history. Kenny has been synonymous with the Thieves since the organization’s inception, serving as both a superstar player and a vocal leader through multiple different eras of the Call of Duty League, including their Vanguard World Championship run in 2022. His departure signals a major shift in direction for LA as they look to reset following a disappointing stretch of results.

The move comes after the Thieves fell short of expectations at Major I, prompting the organization to reevaluate its long-term core. While Kenny showed positive signs in matches at the end of the Major I Qualifier, the team failed to place well at the Major I, leading to difficult roster decisions this offseason.

For Kenny, he will have to evaluate his future. After being dropped by OpTic Texas last season, this was his last chance to perform on a top-tier roster. There was early noise at the start of the season, but a 1.28 Series K/D against OpTic & 1.05 against Carolina gave positive vibes going into the Major. He continued good results, dropping a 1.19 Series K/D in the 3-0 sweep over Carolina to start the Major, but dropped a 0.69 K/D against Paris & 0.63 K/D versus Vegas to be eliminated. While his individual performances haven't been nearly consistent enough, he might have options with CDL franchises later in the season.
