Boston Breach Black Ops 7 Season Preview: Mean Green Machine

The offseason is officially over, which means the Call of Duty League is finally here. With new franchises, a great competitive game, & new rosters across the League, it is shaping up to be one of the best CDL seasons to date.

While rumors were swirling around the future of the Boston Breach earlier in the year, they entered Black Ops 7 with the momentum they built at the end of the last season & an all-new AR player, Byron "Nastie" Plumridge. In this season preview, we’ll dive into Breach’s offseason moves, key players to watch, and what are their expectations compared to the competition within the CDL.

Offseason Recap: The Nasty Boys

Signings:
+ Byron "Nastie" Plumridge

Releases:
- Joseph "Owakening" Conley

It was unknown which direction the team was going to go into the offseason, as they played well last season, but had the potential to have players poached from them. Miami had reportedly looked into bringing in Snoopy once José "ReeaL" Castilla moved on to Toronto.

With Boston able to put out that fire, they were able to scoop out potential upgrades across the roster. While a move didn't have to be made, signing Nastie to the team was too good of an option to turn down. Bringing in a player who was in six of the last seven tournament finals will not only provide a winning culture boost, but he is also one of the best ARs over the previous two seasons. This will be a roster that causes a lot of shock upsets this season.

The Boston Breach roster heading into Black Ops 7:

○ Eric "Snoopy" Pérez
○ Cameron "Cammy" McKilligan
○ Byron "Nastie" Plumridge
○ Evan "Purj" Perez
○ Sean "Seany" O'Connor [Coach]
○ Mike "Magxck" Libeccio [Coach]

Offseason Reactions

Ronnie: "The Boston Breach has had a very quiet offseason, but this is understandable given the clear upgrade path available to them after an awe-inspiring season in Black Ops 6.

Coming into the offseason, they realized that if they wanted to continue competing in the top half of the CDL, they would need to find an upgrade for either AR player, Owakening, or Cammy. However, I’m not sure they anticipated that a player like Nastie would be available for free with little competition, especially after his stellar season with the Vancouver Surge, where he made it to four finals."

Easy Mac: “This was a relatively quiet offseason for the Breach, outside of questions whether the organization was going to be sold. They performed very well last year, but some would argue that they overperformed. While the expectation was they could stick, I thought that if they could keep Snoopy from Miami, then they'd have to take an upgrade they could. With Nastie being available, it was highly impressive that they were able to sign him over other orgs like Toronto, New York, Minnesota, or any other orgs around the League."

Season Expectations

Ronnie: "I believe a successful season for Boston would involve being more consistent in all game modes. Last season, they were consistently a top team in Search and Destroy, and once they improved in the other modes, we saw their true potential at Champs. If they can maintain this consistency, they should expect to finish in the top 6 at most events this season, especially with the signing of Nastie, who is a clear upgrade on paper at the flex position. If they can secure a spot in the finals, many around the team will consider it a success."

Season Predictions
Best Placement: 6th
Team MVP: Snoopy
Final Regular Season Seed: 7th
Will they qualify for Champs: Yes

Easy Mac: “I like to look at Boston as a great gauge of where other teams are in the League. They are a middle-of-the-pack team that is savvy enough to take advantage of mistakes from their opponents to punch above their weight. They'll surely have more tournaments where they start in the Upper Bracket, knock off a team in Round 1, but finish Top 6 after two losses. This happened multiple times last year, but overall, expect them to be fighting to qualify for Champs this season."

Players to Watch in Black Ops 6

Ronnie: Evan "Purj" Perez

"Purj is a player who has made a remarkable transformation from being seen as one of the worst players in the CDL during MW2 with the Vegas Legion to becoming a formidable force in a short career. After he was dropped from the team, they struggled significantly, which only helped improve Purj's reputation. Since then, his trajectory has been upward.

He joined Boston last year and quickly became one of the most impressive younger leaders in the CDL, particularly excelling in Search and Destroy. Purj has successfully unlocked Snoopy’s potential, allowing him to showcase his skills on the map. However, Purj is proving to be more than just a facilitator; he has also demonstrated that he can compete with the best when he’s in rhythm with his SMG.

The key for him this year is to maintain that consistency. If he can do that, he will likely become one of the highly-rated players in the CDL."

Easy Mac: Eric "Snoopy" Pérez

“With a strong, veteran backline behind him, Snoopy will have to hit another level in order to help the Breach break through to the next level. He has consistently been knocking on the door, but for Boston to break out of the Top 8 threshold, he'll have to."
