Cloud9 New York has turned the page ahead of Stage IV, signing 18-year-old rookie Jason "Wevy" Medina from Telluride Shrub and handing one of the CDL’s most hyped prospects his first shot at the league. While the transaction itself came with plenty of behind-the-scenes drama, the focus now shifts to what Wevy can bring on the server, because on talent alone, this is one of the most intriguing moves of the Black Ops 7 season.

Wevy only became league-eligible two weeks ago, and his résumé at this level is understandably thin: his first taste of semi-pro LAN came just last week at the Atlanta Open, where he and Shrub battled to a Top 20 finish. Even so, his rise through Challengers and his reputation among the community as one of the hottest young guns in recent years made him a clear target for a rebuilding New York. He steps into the starting lineup in place of Arnel "Okis" Avdagic, who was released earlier this week.
With Cloud9 New York all but mathematically eliminated from Champs, this move is less about a miracle late-season run and more about the future. The priority now is to build toward a strong showing at Major IV and lay the groundwork for a more competitive push at the Esports World Cup.
