Vancouver Surge are making a significant change ahead of Stage IV, parting ways with SMG Isaiah "Gwinn" Gwinn after a difficult stretch of results in the middle of the season. Once viewed as a key slayer for the roster, Gwinn’s impact dipped over Stage III, where he posted a 0.87 K/D, 83.8 Slayer Rating, and 11,079 damage rating, including a 0.83 K/D in respawns despite a strong 1.29 K/D in Search & Destroy. Across LAN events this year, he averaged a 0.89 K/D and 84.5 Slayer Rating, solid but short of the star-level production Surge needed from a frontline SMG.

The team’s results told a similar story of massive decline compared to last year. After starting with a Top 8 finish at Major I, Vancouver slid to Top 10 at Major II, Top 12 at Minor I, and Top 16 at Major III, trending in the wrong direction as the season progressed. With Stage IV representing the final chance to compete on LAN this season, the organization has opted for a reset in the SMG department, looking for a new look to reignite their respawn presence and overall consistency.
Moving on from Gwinn underscores Vancouver’s urgency: his SND numbers showed clear value, but the team ultimately needs a more complete, consistent, series-long difference-maker to climb back into contention. As Surge explores replacements, Gwinn now enters the market as a mechanically talented SMG with plenty of CDL experience, making him an intriguing target for Challengers contenders or rebuilding franchises planning.
